Spring's bounty is here with so many fresh greens, carrots, celery, and potatoes!
We may even see some of the season's first strawberries popping up at market this week - make sure to arrive early if you catch them on our Live feed at 7:30am as the first strawberries usually go fast!

It is spring salad season right now - so make sure to grab all of the locally grown crispy lettuces while the rains are here!

We have a whole new run of our super popular flat bottom canvas tote bag! $20 gets you your very own LFM tote bag with the beloved design by Jim Smith from 2009! All proceeds from this go to our non-profit farmers market to keep it running and thriving.
All of the food you see at our market is grown or produced within 50 miles of Lawrence. Some of the seasonal produce you can find this weekend: bok choy, arugula, spinach, turnips, radishes, asparagus, salad greens, head lettuce, green onions, and fresh herbs! Plus all of the usual amazing things our vendors bring us each and every day.

Didja know that over 50% of the material in landfills is food waste?! With Earth Day coming up this weekend, we want to highlight the food waste bucket swap program that happens right here at Lawrence Farmers Market!
Read further to learn a little bit more about the Community Supported Composting program with Table View Farm...

"From the moment of the kitchen chop and plate scrape, to the market, then finished compost goes into the garden" - @robertisfarmn with Table View Farm has a mission for his Community Supported Composting program to help keep these resources and nutrients right here in our community. He is working to close the loop and "mind the gap" in the food cycle by taking your food scraps, turning them into compost with his worms, then bringing them back to market in the form of fresh produce.

He has a bucket swap program running at Lawrence Farmers' Market every Saturday 7:30-11:30am. It is $20 for setup to get your own bucket and is $6 to swap your full food waste bucket for a clean one!

Table View Farm grows produce on only 1/4 acre of land, however, he needs 20 tonnes of compost each year to keep his soil lush and productive. It takes about 400 tonnes of food waste to make those needed 20 tonnes! Currently, an average bucket swap is about 10 pounds and he's averaging about 10 swaps/week. With an average family of 4 creating about 22 pounds of food waste each week...there's alot of room for growth with Robert's program!

Join us this Saturday at the market and pick up your own bucket and start composting your food waste! Table View Farm has moved this year to be right front and center at the New Hampshire St. entrance! Our kid booth this week will have worms to touch and coloring pages!

Also join Director of Development, Emily Lysen, at the Lawrence Earth Day Fair in South Park 1-4pm for hands-on worm composting demos, coloring pages, and learn more about food composting!

To learn more about food waste's role in our food cycle, join Robert from Table View Farm at a workshop at Wild Ivy Herb Farm on April 21st

We got to see everyone’s market haul, see them be able to get their favorite market staples again and experience some crazy lines!! We’ve never seen it this busy for Opening Day!!
